Events

The SAIRD KVK-Gaddipally team launched a 15-day Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan on May 29, 2025, following guidelines from ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad. This initiative brought together 5 teams of scientists who covered Suryapet (3 villages/day) and Nalgonda districts (2 villages/day).

Key Highlights : – Extensive Coverage: A total of 23,694 farmers from 80 villages across 27 mandals benefited from the program held between May 29, 2025, and June 12, 2025.

-The event focused on: – 1. Government Agriculture Schemes. 2. Sustainable Practices- Creating awareness about natural farming, soil testing, and soil health management 3. Crop-Specific Technologies: Sharing Kharif season technologies for rice, cotton, Redgram & vegetables to enhance  productivity and profitability 4. Farmer Feedback: Collecting feedback from farmers to understand their needs and concerns. 

This event demonstrates the commitment to empowering farmers through scientific knowledge and community engagement, aligning with the goals of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.

Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme under CFLD-Oilseeds on Groundnut Crop at Thummala Penphad on 22.09.2025

Details of the Activity: KVK-Gaddipally Organized a Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme under CFLD-Oilseeds on Groundnut Crop. The programme was facilitated by D.Naresh, Senior Scientist and Head (I/C) and  A. Kiran, SMS (Soil Science), highlighted the significance of the CFLD’s Oilseeds concept and the need for adopting improved management practices in oilseed crops, particularly groundnut, to enhance productivity. 

The training focused on:1)Integrated Pest Management 2) Crop management practices 3) Balanced nutrition and timely operations  4, Weed management practices.

As part of the programme, critical inputs such as yellow, blue, and white sticky traps, solar light traps, and neem oil (1 liter per acre) were distributed to farmers. These inputs are expected to support eco-friendly pest management, reduce dependence on chemical pesticides, and lower the cost of cultivation. KVK staff and a total of 58 farmers were participated.

Awareness Programme on Slow Releasing Pheromone Traps and Installation of Pheromone Traps at KVK, Gaddipally on 20.09.2025

Details of the Activity: An awareness programme was organized under the SBI-CSR–ICAR-IIRR Project on Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice for Sustainable Rice Production. Dr. Ch. Padmavathi, Sr. Scientist (Entomology), explained the use of slow-releasing pheromone traps for monitoring and mass trapping of yellow stem borer in paddy. She highlighted the installation of 12 traps per acre with weekly data collection and demonstrated the “Mobile IPM App.”Slow-release pheromone traps were distributed to 50 farmers (@ 3 traps per acre) and installed in demo fields to promote eco-friendly pest management under IPM practices.

Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme under Oilseeds Model Village (OMV) Project at Ravipahad, Mothey of Suryapet District on 17.09.2025

Activity: KVK-Gaddipally organized a Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme under the Oilseeds Model Village (OMV) initiative. The programme was facilitated by A. Kiran, SMS (Soil Science), and D. Adarsh, SMS (Plant Protection), highlighted the significance of the OMV concept and the need for adopting improved management practices in oilseed crops, particularly groundnut, to enhance productivity.

The training focused on: 1), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technologies for minimizing pest incidence. 2), Crop management practices in groundnut, including land preparation, sowing, nutrient and water management. 3), Balanced nutrition and timely operations in groundnut cultivation.

As part of the programme, critical inputs such as yellow, blue, and white sticky traps, solar light traps, and neem oil were distributed to farmers. 

Number of farmers Participated: 55 farmers participated.

Poshan Maah Celebration at KVK Gaddipally 

SAIRD-KVK, Gaddipally, in collaboration with the ICDS Women and Child Welfare Department, celebrated Poshan Maah on September 15, 2025. The event was attended by CDPO Smt. Venkatalakshmi, Anganwadi Supervisor Smt. Revathi, and 90 Anganwadi teachers. During the event, D. Naresh, KVK I/c PC, emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The celebration aimed to promote awareness on nutrition and health among women and children. The event was a collaborative effort between KVK Gaddipally and the Women and Child Welfare Department to promote holistic development in the community.

OFT on Assessment of Management of Thrips in Cotton

Activity: D. Adarsh, SMS – Plant Protection conducted OFT on Assessment of Management of Thrips in Cotton. As part of this programme, distributed critical inputs like Blue Sticky Traps @ 10 to each farmer, Azadirachtin 1500 PPM @ 1 lt and Need based insecticide Thiamethoxam @ 50 gm/ac for an effective management of Thrips in Cotton. The crop is 85-90 days old.

Skill Training program on Value added products to millets” for rural youth  SAIRD-KVK, Gaddipally organized a 3-day “Skill Training Program on Value Added Products to Millets” for rural youth and women from September 10-12, 2025. The program aimed to empower participants with knowledge and skills to establish millet-based enterprises.The inaugural session featured D. Naresh, I/c PC, highlighting the nutritional importance of millets and market demand for value-added products. N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), emphasized millet’s role in eradicating malnutrition and anemia, and conducted demonstrations on value-added products like millet laddu and jowar biscuits. Over the next two days, participants gained hands-on experience in making various millet-based products. 

OFT on Assessment of Whitefly Management in Cotton at Macharam village, Penpahad mandal of Suryapet District.     

 Date: 09-09-2025

Activity: D. Adarsh, SMS – Plant Protection conducted OFT on Assessment of Whitefly Management in Cotton. As part of this programme, distributed critical inputs like Yellow Sticky Traps @ 10 to each farmer, Microbial Volatiles @ 10 to each farmer and Need based insecticide Diafenthiuron @ 100 gm/ac for an effective management of Whitefly in Cotton. The crop is 80-85 days old.

Farmers’ Meeting and Training Programme under the PM-PRANAM Scheme for the Promotion of Balanced Use of Fertilizers at Nalgonda on 03.09.2025 

Activity: A. Kiran, SMS (Soil Science), KVK-Gaddipally, participated in a Farmers’ Meeting and Training Programme organized by IPL under the PM-PRANAM Scheme to promote balanced fertilizer use. In this programme highlighted the importance of soil health and regular soil testing, explaining parameters like organic carbon, pH, EC, and texture. He stressed the use of organic manures and bio-fertilizers for improving soil fertility, structure, and sustainability, along with reducing input costs. The objectives and benefits of the PM-PRANAM Scheme were also explained. –  Farmers participated: 96

 

SAKVK, Gaddipally conducted Training Programme on Integrated Weed Management in DirectSeeded Rice at KVK, Gaddipally on 23.08.2025

Activity Overview: As part of the SBI Foundation’s CSR initiative “Promotion of Direct-Seeded Rice for Sustainable Rice Production” SAIRDKVK- Gaddipally organized an in-house training programme on Integrated Weed Management in Direct-Seeded Rice. The programme covered the following key aspects:

1.Efficient sowing techniques using Drum Seeder technology 2. Integrated weed and nutrient management practices 3. Water conservation techniques in DSR cultivation 4. Application of biofertilizers and cost-effective inputs. Participants were provided with hands-on training through live demonstration and interactive sessions to understand best practices for successful DSR implementation. Following the training session, a field visit was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Chilukur Mandal and local farmers to assess DSR fields affected by weed infestation During the visit, suitable control measures and integrated weed management strategies were suggested to the farmers. YP Sai Kiran and  64 farmers were attended.

SAKVK, Gaddipally conducted Demonstration of the Nutri Garden at Zph School at Penchikaldinna village of Nereducherla, Suryapet on 22.08.2025.

Activity Details: KVK Scientists Smt. N. Sugandhi Home Scientist and D. Adarsh SMS (Plant Protection) made a demonstration of the nutri garden along with students at Zph School and explained about the layout design, what kind of vegetables and fruits can be grown in the nutri garden. Later, distributed vegetable seed kit and also done  plantation of seedlings of  tomato, brinjal and chilli seedlings. Then, explained about the benefits of establishing nutri garden which helps in consuming healthy food at school.  Scientists Involved: Smt. N.Sugandhi PA (Home Science), D. Adarsh SMS (Plant Protection), P. Akshith SMS (Extension), A. Naresh PA (Computers), Zph School Principal, School Teachers and 38 students were participated.

 

KVK Scientists conducted the diagnostic field visits along with Department of Agriculture to Paddy and Cotton Crops in Mothe Mandal of Suryapet Dist. on 20.08.2025. During the visit in paddy observed grasses and broadleaf weeds and pests like stemborer and diseases like BLB suggested necessary weed management practices and suggested foliar spray with COC @ 3 g + Plantamycin @ 0.4g/L of water for BLB. Suggested foliar spray with Cartap Hydrochloride @ 2gm/lt water or Chlorantraniliprole @ 0.3 ml/lt water for lepidopteran pests and  in Cotton crop, observed sucking pests like leafhoppers, aphids and whiteflies and suggested to follow all the IPM practices like installation of Yellow Sticky Traps @ 20/ac, one solar light trap and Pheromones Traps @ 4/ac for monitoring PBW. Later suggested spraying of Azadirachtin 1500 PPM @ 5ml/lt water along with Acephate @ 1.5 gm or Acetamiprid 0.2 gm or Imidacloprid @ 0.3 ml/lt water.

FLD on Demonstration of the Nutri Garden at TS Model School at Anajipuram, Penpahad Mandal of Suryapet on 05.08.2025

Activity Details: KVK Scientists Smt. N. Sugandhi Home Scientist and D. Adarsh SMS (Plant Protection) made a demonstration of the nutri garden along with students under FLD at TS Model School and explained about the layout design, what kind of vegetables and fruits can be grown in the nutri garden and also done sowing of vegetables in the blocks and plantation of seedlings (tomato ,brinjal, chilli). Also, explained about the benefits of establishing nutri garden which helps in consuming healthy food at school and  briefly explained about the pest and disease management by use of neem based products.     No of Participants: 35 students participated.

 

 Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gaddipally organized a live streaming event of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) programme at the KVK Training hall on 02.08.2025. 

Shri. D. Naresh, Senior scientist (I/c) welcomed the participant farmers &input dealers and highlighted the objectives of the PM-KISAN scheme. Further, he spoke in detail about the central government’s initiatives in agriculture for the welfare of farming community. He reiterated KVK, Gaddipally’s commitment to serving the farming community of Suryapet district and encouraged the farmers to make optimal use of the financial assistance received under the scheme for the farm activities. • Shri. G. Sreedhar Reddy, DAO, attended and wished all the farmers would utilize the PM-Kisan beneficiary amount for the purchase of inputs and agricultural purpose.

 

Assessment on Foliar Application of Nano Urea and Nano DAP in Cotton at Macharam village of Penpahad mandal of Suryapet on 01.08.2025

Event: A. Kiran, SMS (Soil Science), KVK-Gaddipally, conducted an On-Farm Trial (OFT) on the foliar application of Nano Urea and Nano DAP in cotton. The program oriented farmers on the benefits, method of application, and safety precautions related to the use of these nano-fertilizers.

Key Activities: 1. Distribution of 500 ml each of Nano Urea and Nano DAP to five selected farmers for foliar application. 2. Practical field demonstration on proper application techniques. 3. Discussion on common pest and disease issues in cotton fields, including sucking pests and fungal leaf spots. 4. Identification of nutrient deficiency symptoms (e.g., nitrogen and magnesium deficiencies)  Number of Participating Farmers: 7

 

SAIRDKVK conducted Demonstration and Geotagging of  DSR paddy farms in Agribridge Krishivaas Client app at Dupahad village of Penpahad mandal, Suryapet district on 31.07.2025

Details of the Activity: Training on App and Geo-tagging of DSR fields

 In KVK, Gaddipally,  villages successfully completed the geo-tagging of  17  farmers of DSR using the Krishivaas client app and explained the importance and usage of the app. Early detection of crop stress in the fields at exact location with the severity of crop stress with different colours through the push-notifications in smart phone of the farmers about their farm health and installed the app with the farmers.

SAKVK, Gaddiopally conducted a Training Cum Awareness Programme on Nutrition Garden for 74 Anganwadi Center Teachers in Garidepalli Mandal of Suryapet District on 30.07.2025 at SAKVK, gaddiopally

Sri. D. Naresh, Senior Scientist & Head I/c, emphasized the main purpose of the programme, which is to train Anganwadi teachers in rural areas to promote nutritional awareness among women and children through backyard gardening. Sri. Ch. Naresh, SMS (Horticulture), delivered a detailed presentation on planning and designing nutrient-rich backyard gardens. Smt. N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), highlighted the importance of providing nutritional food to women and young children and the steps to achieve this. As part of the programme, 9 varieties of vegetable seed kits were distributed to the Anganwadi Teachers. The programme was attended by Huzurnagar CDPO, Garidepalli Mandal Supervisor, KVK staff and 70 Anganwadi Teachers.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) scientific team comprising Mr. Ch.Naresh SMS (Horticulture), Dr. P. Akshith Sai, SMS (Extension), Mr. A. Naresh, PA (Computer) and Smt. N. Sugandi, PA (Home Science), conducted field visit visits to three newly selected villages along with RAWEP students on 29.07.2025. During the visit, the team inspected various crops, including cotton, oil palm, and custard apple. The farmers and students were given awareness on identifying sucking pests like thrips, jassids, and whiteflies in the early  stages of cotton crops. Suitable IPM practices, such as the installation of sticky traps, stem application, and pesticide recommendations, were suggested. Additionally, sulphonate wet gels were recommended to mitigate the effects of prolonged dry spells.The field visit provided practical exposure to RAWEP students, and farmers received customized recommendations for their crops. The KVK team gained familiarity with the farmers, cropping patterns, and scope for planning programs and promoting advanced technologies in the mandal. The visit also enabled the team to conduct method demonstrations and maintain information corners on relevant crop advisories every week.

Awareness Programme on Nano Fertilizers at Khanapuram, Kodad on 11.07.2025: Mr. A. Kiran, Scientist (Soil Science), KVK-Gaddipally, participated in an Awareness Programme on Nano Fertilizers organized by IFFCO. During the session delivered a keynote address highlighting the importance and benefits of Nano Urea and Nano DAP in enhancing nutrient use efficiency and crop productivity. Emphasized their role in reducing chemical fertilizer usage while maintaining yield. The application methods such as seed treatment and foliar spraying were discussed in detail, along with appropriate dosages for different crop stages. In view of the delayed onset of monsoon and emerging early-season drought conditions  also advised farmers on contingency crop planning strategies including selection of short-duration crops, intercropping systems and soil moisture conservation techniques to mitigate risks and ensure sustainable productivity.As part of the programme, nano fertilizers were distributed to 65 progressive farmers for demonstration purposes.

During the programme, KVK scientists highlighted the significance of direct- seeded rice and shared insights on its cultivation, with a strong emphasis on mechanization techniques and their benefits in rice  farming. They elaborated on the advantages of DSR, including water savings,  reduced labor, and improved productivity. Subsequently, the scientists engaged engaged with DSR farmers to discuss the use and effectiveness of weedicides in DSR system.They also collected detailed information on the DSR methods currently practiced by the farmers. Additionally, they planned SBICSRfunded IIRR training programme activities for the upcoming season with these farmers.

InHouse Training Programme on DirectSeeded Rice and Distribution of
Rapid Mini SoilTesting Kits on 25062025 at KVK, Gaddipally

As part of the SBI Foundation’s CSR initiative, “Promotion of DirectSeeded
Rice for Sustainable Rice Production”, conducted an inhouse training programme on DirectSeeded Rice (DSR) utilizing Drum Seeder technology. The training emphasized: 1. Efficient sowing methods using Drum Seeder technology 2.Integrated weed and nutrient management 3. Water conservation techniques in DSR 4. Use of biofertilizers and costeffective inputs 5.Integrated pest and disease management in paddy.

Participants attended demonstrations and interactive sessions to gain handson experience with DSR best practices.

During the programme, Rapid Mini SoilTesting Kits were distributed among farmers. A practical demonstration guided participants stepbystep on how to Conduct soil testing using the kits. 

The SAIRD KVK, Gaddipally scientist team, in collaboration with ICAR scientists, successfully implemented the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) programme in villages across Suryapet, Nalgonda, and Khammam districts from May 29 to June 12, 2025. The 15-day programme aimed to empower farmers with cutting-edge knowledge and technologies. Expert-led presentations covered advanced agricultural topics, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in rice, the Rice Clinic app, green manure crops, modern weed management, saline soil reclamation, and integrated nutrient management. The use of Nano Urea, Nano Zinc, and Nano DAP in rice was also emphasized. Additionally, the team facilitated awareness on central government schemes, PM Kisan verification, and farmer registration, stressing the importance of purchasing rice seeds from authorized sources. By providing farmers with knowledge and resources, the VKSA programme aimed to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the agricultural sector. The programme’s impact is expected to benefit a large number of farmers.

AAwareness Program on Income Generating Activities for SHG Women

Date: May 16, 2025; Place: MEPMA Office, Huzur Nagar, Suryapet District

An awareness program was conducted for 55 SHG women on the need and importance of income-generating activities beyond regular agriculture. The program, led by N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), focused on secondary agriculture activities like mushroom cultivation, value-added millet products, nutrition gardens, and backyard poultry rearing. Possible farm-based enterprises for income generation were discussed. The event was attended by officials including V. Ramanji Reddy (Ayush Yoga Master), Mahesh (Deputy Forest Officer), Vasanth Kumar (MEPMA ADMC), and Saikrishna (CO). SHG leaders and staff also participated. The program aimed to empower SHG women with knowledge on diversifying their income streams and promoting self-employment opportunities..

Awareness cum Demo on Soil Testing 

Date: May 14, 2025; Venue: Yellkunta Thanda, Penpahad Mandal, Suryapet District; A.Kiran, SMS-Soil Science, conducted an awareness program and demo on soil sampling, emphasizing the importance of soil testing, proper collection techniques, and the impact of soil pH and organic carbon on crop growth. Soil sampling covers were distributed to collect samples from adopted villages for testing soil health and recommending future crops for the Kharif season. The program was attended by 28 farmers. A field visit was conducted to collect soil samples with the participation of farmers. Staff involved included A.Kiran (SMS-Soil Science), G.Santhosh (YP-2), and B.Venketshwarlu (Skilled Support Staff). The event aimed to promote informed soil management practices among farmers.

Poshan Pakhwada -2025 Date: 6,17,22.04.2025; Target group: Pregnant and lactating women, children. Activity details: As part of the Poshan Pakhwada -2025 campaign observed from 8th to 22nd April 2025, KVK organised 3 awareness program on low-cost nutrition foods at Gaddipally village. Duringthe program, N. Sugandhi PA (Home Science), explained the importance of timely feeding of nutritious low-cost weaning foods using locally available ingredients,  and encouraged mothers to adopt these foods starting at six months of age to ensure optimal growth and development of infants. And also explained timely taking of vaccinations to the child, mother and pregnant women with the help of health workers. KVK staff, Health Supervisor, Health workers and 62 women were Participated.

Skill Training Program on Preparation of Value-Added Products with Milk and milk products with collaboration of PV Narsimha Rao Veterinary University. Date: 08.04.2025 ; KVK-Gaddipally has organised  Skill training on preparation of  value-added products of milk products with collaboration of PV Narsimha Rao Veterinary University, Hyderabad .Dr. Kondal Reddy Professor (Retd )ex Registrar explained the  importance of milk,  its nutritional values and its presentation methods and its marketing etc.. As part of the training program today demonstrated  preparation of milk products like Paneer, Kova, Flavoured Milk,Lassi, Cream separator etc to the trainees. Officials involved Dr. Kondal Reddy Professor (Retd ) ex Registrar, Dr. Shashi Kumar Professor, Dr. M. Kisan Mela cum Farmers interaction with Dr. Shaik N Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone – X, Hyderabad on 04.04.2025 at SAIRD  KVK Gaddipally   Activity: SAIRD KVK- Gaddipally organized Kisan Mela under special project of Cotton. Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR- ATARI, Zone-X, Hyderabad graced the occasion as chief guest and engaged in insightful interactions with farmers. Emphasized the benefits of high-density planting in cotton, drone spraying in Paddy,  Biologicals for  improving the soil health,  potential of promoting millet-based value-added products  and backyard poultry among rural women to improve both nutritional status and household income. Later explained the advanced reproductive technologies like Embryo Transfer Technology and sex-sorted semen, promotion of  mineral mixtures for cattle and encouraged  the farmers to engage in allied agricultural activities such as fisheries, sericulture etc., Dr. M. Snehalatha attended as honorary guest and emphasized climate-resilient technologies and various Integrated Farming System (IFS) models aimed at augmenting farmers’ incomeSubsequently, a booklet on High density Cotton was released & critical inputs Viz., Battery sprayers, Drum seeders, drums & vermi bags were distributed to farmers under DSR, SCSP & TSP projects.

Awareness Programme on Natural Farming under “Out Scaling of Natural Farming Project 2024-25″‘ Date: 27-03-2025 Activity: As a part of Awareness Programme on Natural Farming, A.Kiran SMS-Soil Science explained about activities uptaken by KVK under Natural Farming and importance of IFS its benefits, harmful effects on excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture which is polluting the soil, atmosphere, food and increasing the investment cost for farmers. Ch. Naresh SMS-Horticulture explained in detail about the concept steps involved in natural farming, Organic inputs preparations such as beejamruthm, jeevamruth, ghanajeeva amruth, neemastram, waste decomposer.  Later Visited  paddy field  diagnosed the different pests & diseases and suggested suitable remedial measures.      KVK Staff and 125 Farmers participated

Field Visits to mulberry garden, silkworm rearing shed & seri waste  composting unit at Nandyalavarigudem Date: 13-03-2025

Details of the Activity: 1. Dr. T. Madhuri, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS)- Sericulture, inspected the newly developed mulberry plantations and silkworm rearing shed of KVK trainee, Mr. Vinay. During the visit, recommended to set up a rain gun irrigation system during summer in order to maintain freshness of leaf & avoid sucking pest infestation during the summer and explained the  specific subsidies available under silk samagra-2 scheme. 2. Supervised the rearing shed at Nandyalavari Gudem where the silkworms were at the third moult stage and advised ensuring proper cross-ventilation in the shed during moulting. Additionally, suggested dusting lime & Vijetha Green, a body disinfectant, immediately after moulting and before the first feeding. 3. Later visited sericulture waste composting unit by utilizing earthworms & recommended to maintain good moisture level by sprinkling the water at 2-3 days intervals & covering the upper layer with paddy straw. Farmers Participated: 6

Event: Celebration of International Women’s Day  & Telecasting  the 4th episode of  Kisal  Choupal Date: 8th March, 2025 at KVK, Campus.

Activity :  KVK, Gaddipally organized the International Women’s Day celebration on 8th March 2025 at KVK campus. During the event, D. Naresh, Senior Scientist & Head (I/c.), attended as the chief guest and highlighted the significance of women’s empowerment, along with various women-centric initiatives undertaken by KVK, encouraging participants to take advantage of them.Dr. T. Madhuri, SMS-Sericulture, elaborated on the primary objective of commemorating International Women’s Day and the vital role of women in both family structures and society. Ch. Naresh, SMS (Horticulture), provided insights into the formation of Self-Help Groups and the credit linkages accessible to them. A. Kiran, SMS (Soil Science), highlighted the contributions of women in agriculture and allied sectors. The program concluded with the felicitation of progressive women farmers and entrepreneurs. Later,  4th episode of Kisal Choupal was telecasted at KVK.      KVK Staff and A total of 83 rural women & students were participated.                                                                                                                                          

Training Programme on Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice for sustainable Rice Production at Madhavaram,Munagala of Suryapet on 22.02.2025    KVK-GADDIPALLY Conducted Training Programme on Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice for Sustainable Rice Production collaboration with ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. In this programme  KVK Scientists “Highlighted the importance of direct-seeded rice (DSR) and shared insights on its cultivation, including the mechanization techniques involved, emphasizing their benefits in rice farming. Following this, the KVK scientists provided a detailed explanation of the advantages of direct-seeded rice.” Later interacted with DSR farmers regarding the use of weedicides and their efficacy in DSR and also collected detailed information on DSR methods practiced by farmers, and planned SBI-CSR-funded IIRR training programme activities for this season with DSR rice farmers.

Details of the Activity: Kvk Scientists and the Department of Agricultural conducted the diagnostic field visits to Paddy Crop in Athmakur (S) mandal of Suryapet Dist. During the visit observed symptoms of diseases like blast, brown leaf spot and Zinc Nutrient Deficiency. Suggested necessary  management practices like spraying of and Tricyclazole + Carbendazim @ 2.5 gm/lt water for blast and Zinc sulphate @ 2gm/lt water and Sagarika Gold @ 4ml/lt water for plant growth.

Details of the Activity: KVK Gaddipally Scientists ,IIRR Scientists Explained the importance of Direct Seeded Rice and Package of Practices in the paddy to the Farmers. Made the installation of Solar Panel sensor device in the field for the effecient use of water for the farmers. Explained how CV pipes are used to verify the water level in the field. Visit to KVK by Suryapet Collector & Magistrate Sri Tejas Nandalal Pawar   Date: 15-02-2025                                                                                        Activity: Suryapet Collector & Magistrate Sri Tejas Nandalal Pawar have visited KVK as a part of his programme he have seen all the demo units of KVK like Azolla Unit, Paddy Fields, Soil Testing Laboratory, Biofertilizer Laboratory, Shade net, Sericulture Unit, Vermi compost Unit, Value added Millets Product Unit, Medicinal Plant Unit, Fish Ponds. Later suggested to upscale the products available at KVK to more number of farmers of district. SAIRD-KVK, Gaddipally collaborated with DRDA, Suryapet organized a skill development training programme on Integrated Farming System for MGNREGS workers under the UNNATI project at Nadigudem Village &
Mandal, Suryapet district on 15.02.2025. SMS-Horticulture explained the concept and components of Integrated Farming System (IFS), its agri. and allied sectors, and how adopting IFS technology can generate employment and improve livelihoods.The programme was attended by the MPDO, DPO, Unnati programme Nodal Officer of the project, APM, APO Nadigudem Mandal, Technical Assistants from DRDA Suryapet district and 78 beneficiary participants.

Visit to the Nutrient garden established at Model School, Gaddipally   Date: 11/02/2025 ; Activity Details: KVK Home Scientist made a field visit under FLD on Nutri-gardens at schools. Observed  different varieties of the vegetables and green leafy vegetables are grown in nutri-garden and suggested to grow vegetables and green leafy vegetables throughout the year by utilizing their leisure time in daily life. Nutri garden was very healthy and observed no pest in the field. D. Field visit to Oil palm crop at Mamillagudem and Mothey on 10.02.2025 Activity Details; KVK Scientists Visit to  Oil Palm crop along with RAWE Agriculture students of Loyola Academy, Secunderabad. We identified specific problems and diagnosed them as pest and disease issues, as well as nutritional deficiencies, including symptoms of crown rot, Rhinoceros beetle infestation, and deficiencies of boron and magnesium.   We recommended the following measures: 1.Installation of Rhino lure @ 2 per acre 2.Application of 100g boron + 200g magnesium per plant Drenching the crown region with a solution of 1ml Lambda cyhalothrin + 1g Carbandazim per liter of water. Additionally, we suggested growing intercrops between rows and plants, such as oilseeds, pulses, vegetables, and flower crops for additional income and proper utilization of land. Activity: D. Adarsh, SMS – Plant Protection conducted FLD on Demonstration on Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Paddy. As part of this programme, distributed critical inputs like Pheromone Traps for Yellow Stem Borer, Azadirachtin 1500 PPM @ 1 lt, Trichoderma Cards @ 4/ac and need based pesticides like Chlorantraniliprole @ 60 ml/ac for Lepidopteran Pests and Propiconazole and Tricyclazole @ 200 ml and 120 gm/ac for diseases to each farmer.

Sericulture, inspected the newly developed mulberry plantations and silkworm rearing shed of KVK trainee, Mr. Vinay. During the visit,
   recommended irrigating the  mulberry field at two-day intervals to ensure
optimal moisture levels in the leaves during the late instar stage of
silkworms. 
2. Supervised the rearing shed where the silkworms were at
the third moult stage and advised ensuring proper cross-ventilation in the shed during moulting. Additionally, suggested dusting Vijetha Green, a body disinfectant, immediately after moulting and before the first feeding. 
3. Later elaborated on sericulture waste management by
utilizing earthworms for composting instead of burning the residues.

 Inauguration of DAESI 2024-25 Batch at KVK-Gaddipally on 04.02.2025    Activity: KVK-Gaddipally, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and ATMA, Suryapet District, has inaugurated the 2024-25 batch of the DAESI program at the KVK campus. The program was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by *Sri G. Sridhar Reddy*, DAO, Suryapet District.In this  program DAO & PD, ATMA, KVK PC&Head, all  the Scientists, DAESI program Facilitators and 40 input Dealers were participated. DAESI program is  one year duration diploma certificate program with 80 technical sessions and 8 field visits . Mango Orchards at Dupahad Village, Suryapet

Date:29.01.2025

Activity Details; visit to Mango orchards made on 29.01.2025 and 
noticed  the severe incidence of  Mango leaf webber and powdery mildew
disease in mango crop. Recommended use of pesticides i.e. spray of Lamda Cyhalothrin 5 EC@1 ml/lit and Myclobutanil 0.5gm per liter at 20 days interval and also  sugg schedule of Sprays, Nutrients management and water management.

Awareness program on the importance of nutri garden at TS Model school, Anajipuram, Penpahad, suryapet on 27.01.2025

 Activity Details: In this programme, created an awareness to school children to emphasize the importance of maintaining nutrition gardens at school and at home during their leisure time. The session also highlighted the significance of incorporating millets and their value-added products into their daily diet. Explained about the problems faced by malnutrition at a young age. Later briefly explained about the layout design what kind of vegetables and fruits can be grown and also explained about the pest and disease management with organically grown by use of neem based products.  Staff Involved: N.Sugandhi  PA ( Home Science) D.  Demonstration on “Incorporation of Cotton stubbles by Cotton
Shredder under FLD at 
Mahamadapuram and Macharam on 27.01.2025 

Activity : In this programme KVK scientists explained about advantages of  incorporation of cotton stalks instead of burning. Burning of cotton stubbles causes damage to beneficial micro-organisms present in the upper layer of the soil and its organic quality. Suggested farmers about incorporation of cotton stalks in soil which increases the soil organic carbon and soil fertility and also suggested that the intensity of Pink
bollworm will increase if the crop is not removed in timely. In this programme 04 farmers participated.

Satyanarayana Reddy, Dr. B.Venkateshwarlu participated and explained the livelihood of Scheduled Caste farmers will be improved by following integrated farming methods. and also were briefed about the programs organized under the SC sub plan.  Field Visits to mulberry garden & silkworm rearing shed At Huzurnagar       Date: 08.01.2025

Details of the Activity:  

1. Dr. T. Madhuri (SMS- Sericulture) visited a mulberry garden previously affected by root rot, where plants had initially suffered up to 60% damage. After  following  IDM practices ( treatment with Trichoderma and SAAF as per schedule) as  a part of the FLD program, the plants fully recovered, producing new branches and halting the disease spread. The farmer expressed gratitude for the successful demonstration. 

2.Conducted a follow-up visit to a silkworm rearing shed. Observed uneven worm sizes and recommended separating undersized worms from matured ones. Detected low-level flacherie disease in one section of the rearing bed and advised removing affected worms, applying lime & turmeric (3;1) to prevent further spread, especially where worms are yet to be moult.
