Details of the Activity: KVK scientists organized Kisan Mela and Agricultural Exhibition at Gaddipally on Saturday. In this program, Dr M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Centre, Palem, participated as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the agricultural exhibition and reviewed the stalls made by various companies and RAWE students. Later addressed the farmers and said that if all the farmers grow different commercial crops instead of relying on only one crop, there is a possibility of getting higher income. Also, if less harmful pesticides are sprayed, beneficial insects in the environment can be protected. In this program, KVK in-charge program coordinator Mr. D Naresh talked about various programs undertaken for farmers in KVK and explained about the HDPS method in cotton. In this program, Dr S Usharani, Principal Scientist ICAR-CICR, Coimbatore participated and talked about the high density planting method in cotton and its benefits to farmers. In this program, Dr M Snehalatha SAIRD KVK Secretary participated and informed about the training programs conducted by KVK scientists for the farmers. In this program, Dr B Padmaja, Principal Scientist, Weed Science, PJTSAU spoke about new herbicides to be used for weed control in paddy. Next, farmers who cultivated cotton through high density planting method shared their experiences.
